The Monetary Policy Council left the National Bank of Poland (NBP) interest rates on the current level on Wednesday. According to the President of the NBP interest rates may be at this level even by the end of 2019, and if nothing changes, they will also be maintained in the longer term. We would like to remind you that the MPC changed the level of interest rates for the last time in March 2015, decreasing it by 50 bp.
This means that on an annual basis the NBP reference rate will still be at 1.50%, lombard rate at 2.50%, deposit rate at 0.50%, rediscount rate at 1.75%. In the comment, the head of the National Bank of Poland admits that our central bank sees inflationary risk. It is worth noting that energy price rises are approaching, which will translate into many products and services that are already high in Poland due to, among others, for an outdated system, especially for distribution.
